The Case of Capital Intrigue (Nancy Drew 142)
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Carolyn Keene and Elizabeth Nugent
Average review score:

A well-written mystery!
This book was great! I really enjoyed it! It was easy to follow, and not confusing! The book kept you in suspense, and you had no idea what the ending was going to be! The basic plot was this: Nancy's friend George gets a photography job at the white house, and invites Nancy to visit her. During Nancy's first day, a gold hummingbird gets stolen, while Nancy is unconcious. Most of the main characters in the story (not including Nancy or George) have good motives for stealing the hummingbird. It's up to Nancy Drew to find the thief, but just as everything is going well, the ambassador is kidnapped...

This book is very clever, with a twist at the end! If you love mysteries, you'll love this book!

Intruiging- very interesting
I think the Case of the Capital Intruige was very interesting. In it, George has taken a job as a photographer's assistant. Nancy and Bess assist her to DC for a vacation. Little do they know, Nancy runs into a mystery. First, a sacred statue is stolen, and Nancy must face dangers to get it back. But then, the embassador is kidnapped- and in an extremely exciting mystery filled with clues, codes, and dangers, Nancy solves another page-turning mystery. I think any mystery-lover would enjoy reading this Nancy Drew mystery.

A wonderful and interesting book
Nancy Drew is going to the White House to see her friend George Fayne. George is a photographer at the White House. George is a girl. George wanted Nancy to come and stay for a little while to see her photographing. Nancy ends up having to investagate a few things. George gets sick and Nancy wants to think in George's office. Nancy hears a person right outside the door and sees a shadow. She burts out of the door without thinking and into the elevator when she feels a hand on her leg. It isn't who Nancy suspects it is at all.

Fantastic!!!!!!!!
Nancy is at Ft. Launderdale for a week of sun, surf, and sand. Unfortunatly, her friend Kim is caught in a hit-and-run accident and it's up to Nancy to find out the truth. Nancy's only clue is "Rosita", the word Kim said just before she lost consiousness. This book is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!

An exciting water mystery based in Florida at Ft. Lauderdale
In this Nancy Drew book Nancy finds herself yet again trying to take a vacation with her friends Bess and George, and as always Nancy's vacation is going to take a turn for the worst when one of her friends (not Bess or George) is involved in a hit-and-run. Before Nancy's friend, Kim, falls unconscious she manages to mumble some words to Nancy. The words Kim mumbled were "Rosita...The...it was...Rosita.", Nancy didn't have much to go on but she knew that the hit-and-run intentional. She had to find out who had ran Kim down and why. Once again Nancy Drew was on the case. The thing I found interesting about this book is that it took place mainly on the beachs of sunny Florida to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The weird thing is that I hate movies and books dealing with captivity on boats or anything dealing with the ocean. This however was a very interesting book that kept me on edge. I really was kept on edge when Nancy was tied to a piler by a man who had knocked her out with a blow to the head. I thought it was very discriptive on telling how Nancy was able to get untied and on the pier before she drowned. There were many characters in the story that I couldn't decide whether they were good or bad. One of the main characters that really got me stuck was Dirk Bowman. He was one of the new guys Bess had picked up. At first he seemed to be good then he started hitting on Nancy and hurt Bess emotionally. Then he took Nancy to a secluded island where I thought he was going to try to kill her, which actually almost happened when her windsurfer broke in half. But later in the book I learned that he was an under cover cop who was trying to solve the same case Nancy was working on. Not only is the book about Nancy's friend being hit by a car but it's also about Kim helping an illegal alien escape the hardship of working on a orchard for the lady that smuggled her into the country. The story unfolds in telling all the details about who and why Kim was almost killed. I recommend this book to any Nancy Drew fan and even to those that just like mysteries.

EXCELLENT!!!
Nancy is in Ft. Launderdale, when her friend Kim is hit by a car in broad daylight! When Nancy goes out to catch the would-be killer she is in extreme danger ,and has only one clue, "Rosita". I especially like the ending!

Let's see
Ok, I think that "the E-mail Mystery" was pretty good, but Nancy doesn't know anything about the Internet? Come on, this is the 90's! Well, read this book, because it is pretty good.

Nancy Drew goes high-tech
Surprise! Surprise! The River Heights super sleuth manages to outwit a computer whiz in her father's office. The plot is refreashing, the mystery intriguing and keeps the reader in suspense. Buy the book for its excitement.

Good book
This is a good book! It has a lot of weird things that happen. Like Jean-Claude doesn't tell Nancy or Bess that he is the prince of Sarconne, or that he had himself kidnapped to get away from his cousin. The book has a lot of twists and turns but I won't reveal the ending. For everybody that likes Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Super Mysteries i recommend that you read this!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!
I love nancy drew and hardy boys supermysteries. that's the only time i read them now cause i love it when they're 2-gether!!This book is the absolute best one!!!

I swear Ned and Callie hold nancy and Frank back. And you know when he started to say something what it was!!! But i love that Jean-Claude is a prince!!! He seemed sooooooooo awesome.

Back to nancy and frank I totally agree with those who think that they should hook up!! I mean they never bring Callie with them so i mean COME ON!!!! Bring on the romance!!! (between nancy and frank that is, ned doesn't deserve her he'd rather study than be with her.)

I also love Bess she's a lot like me but then again i guess i am a mix of george and bess a shopping girl but tomboy in one.

Great combo of Hardys and Drew, as always!
The Hardy Boys, the best book series in existence, combined with respectable Nancy Drew, team up for another Hardys/Drew Super-Mystery. Packed with everything common with the Hardys (comedy, action, adventure, entertainment). Hardy/Drew combo books are always entertaining- this turns out to be great, and is (suprisingly) one of the earlier entries in the Drew/Hardys series of Supermysteries.

Secret of Red Gate Farm (Her Nancy Drew Mystery Stories)
Published in Hardcover by Price Stern Sloan Pub (June, 1961)
Author: Carolyn Keene
Average review score:

One Of The Best Nancy Drew Books
This review concerns the original 1931 edition and the revised 1961 edition, which tells a story similar to the original, but it is shorter. While on a shopping trip, Nancy, Bess and George meet a young girl named Millie (Joanne in the revised edition) who lives at Red Gate Farm with her grandmother. Millie/Joanne and her grandmother may be forced to sell their farm because they don't have enough money, so they decide to take in boarders. Nancy, George and Bess go to the farm to spend some time with their new friend and she tells them about a weird nature cult that rents part of their land and performs strange rituals at night. Nancy; however, suspects that the cult is not quite what it seems. To find out if she is right you'll have to read the book. I really enjoyed this book. I found the mystery intriguing and the writing was very good (at least with the original edition, which was the one I read). I'd recommend reading the original edition, if possible, but either way, this is a very good story that fans of the series would enjoy.

a verry great book
this book was verry good! i read the book in one day! i think that all of the nanacy drew books are good but this one was excelent! it is about nancy drew and her friends bess and george on a small trip to red gate farm there they meet new friends and run into a new mystery! they find a strange nature cult while snooping foward they discover the cults sekret and what they really are doing during their mystic and mysterious ritusls. but when they get cought this could mean extream danger for nancy and her gang! will they make it out of this one? you will have to read this book ! it is great!

Great Book
I loved reading this book. It was very interesting and made me analyze all the characters to figure out who the counterfeiters were. I was amazed at the twists and turns of this mystery story. This book is about a group of people who make false money and try to pass it off as real money. Nancy, Bess, George, and Joan help uncover the group and stop the production of the fake money. There is a strong climax when Nancy and her friends are trapped in a cave and a caught. Basically, this was one of the best books I have read. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to read a great mystery.

Nancy's Mysterious Letter
Published in Hardcover by Price Stern Sloan Pub (June, 1968)
Author: Carolyn Keene
Average review score:

Awful!!!
This review concerns the original 1932 edition as well as the revised 1968 edition which tells a story similar to the original. Nancy mistakenly receives a letter intended for another Nancy Drew, informing her that she has inherited a large sum of money. Also, when Nancy invites her elderly mailman in for a drink of cocoa, his mailbag is stolen from Nancy's porch. Nancy sets out to find the other Nancy Drew and to locate the person who took the mailbag so that she can restore the tarnished reputation of her mailman. Personally, I found this book to be very boring. The mystery is not exciting and there is very little action in the book. Nancy solves the mystery in the end, but it is not through brilliant detective work, it is because she attends a football game at Emerson University. I know that chance encounters always play a big part in solving the case in Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries, but this was just pure dumb luck and nothing else. I wouldn't even waste your time on this one.

Roxie's Review of a magnificant Book
I thought it was a awesome book, especially if you love mysteries and old fashioned fun. When I read it, I just couldn't take my eyes off of it. It is fun, frightening, and wonderfully entertainig. at first, I thought I was going to be scared to death, but it was really cool. I totally recomend it.

A Fun Mystery For Kids
When beloved teen sleuth Nancy Drew receives a mysterious letter from London informing her that she is the heir to a fortune, she sets out to find another person named Nancy Drew, who is the real heir to the fortune. But what she finds is mystery in every turn.

This was an exciting Nancy Drew mystery, that young readers will relish in. They will get to join Nancy on a mystery of a lifetime, and see if they can solve the case before Nancy herself. A very enjoyable book, and a must have for Nancy Drew fans everywhere.

The Clue in the Crumbling Wall
Published in Paperback by HarperCollins Publishers (03 May, 1984)
Author: Carolyn Keene
Average review score:

One Of The Best Of The Set
This review concerns the original 1945 edition as well as the shortened, revised 1973 edition. Desperately wanting to help a poor little girl and her sick mother, Nancy races against time to locate the woman's missing sister. The missing woman, named Florianna in the original version and Julianna in the revised edition, was a talented dancer who disappeared many years before while engaged to a wealthy businessman. Before the man died, he willed to Florianna/Julianna his large estate, Heath Castle, with the stipulation that if she doesn't come forward to claim the estate within a certain amount of time, it is to be turned over to the county for a park. Nancy now has only three weeks to find the missing heiress, but her efforts are being thwarted by a group of men who have apparently been searching the now overgrown estate looking for something. This book is easily one of the ten best of the set, at least the original version is, I never read the revised edition and, although the books tell the same story, the revised editions lack the vibrant writing which characterizes many of the originals. The mystery is interesting and the book moves along at a good pace. I particularly enjoyed the book from about pages 70-100 in the original volume. At this point, Nancy, Bess and George have gone to Heath Castle to investigate, they become separated and each one has her own adventure. This is an excellent book and a definate must-read for fans of Nancy Drew.

enticing title, suspenseful book
"The Clue in the Crumbling Wall" features Nancy, Bess, and George on the trail of another exciting mystery. Danger surrounds them as they are trapped in the cloister of Heath Castle, while on the trail of Juliana Johnson, a talented dancer, who disappeared several years ago.

There is one scene that might frighten very young readers, as Nancy and her faithful housekeeper, Hannah Gruen, are tied up in their own home. Resourceful Nancy finds a way to escape and to free Hannah, and sets off on a re-invigorated search for the criminals.

River Heights, Nancy's hometown, is the scene of this mystery, and as usual, Nancy, her father Carson Drew, and her chums Bess and George use common sense as well as a little uncommon intuition to solve the mystery and to bring a happy ending to the victims. Recommended.

The Clue in the Crumbling Wall
The Clue In the Crumbling Wall, a Nancy Drew mystery, was one of the best books I read in fourth grade. When I started reading this outstanding book I couldn't stop because visions formed in my mind. It was so descriptive and creative. Also, the author used similes, metaphors, hyperboles and personification. I was amazed at how realistic it was. This story is even descriptive enough to be able to be read more than once. I definitely loved reading The Clue of the Crumbling Wall because everything came to life and this is only one of the very many other great Nancy Drews I read. The story is about, smart as a genius, Nancy Drew, the main hero in the book. Her friends, cautious Bess, curious George, and of course her caring father. They have to find the missing dancer, Juliana. They also go through hard times, being traped, and much more. They find tons of treasures including a huge one. I recommend this excellent book to people who love adventures, turning points and surprises. I enjoyed this book very much.

Life is like a box of Roller Coasters
I loved this book and couldn't put it down. It takes place at a amusement park where Bess gets a winning wrapper! When she goes to claim her prize she finds out that someone else has already won the million dollars! Well of course Nancy thinks that this is another one of the cases that she just has to solve! Nancy is on the case!
This story is about a compelling mystery that involves: The Science Sleuths, who are a group of kids on a field trip at the park, Joyce Palmer, who is the attendent at to Chocolate Factory, Mr. Castle, who is the president at the factory, Mr. Tumey, who is the boss at the factory, Bess Marvin, one of Nancy's mystery solving companions, George, the other companion, Nancy Drew, the detective who is on the case, Diana Nugget, the other contest winner, Phil Nugget, Diana's husband, and finally Andrea Cassella, who is the Science Sleuths chaperon.
This story takes place in the park in modern times. ... Find out what happens to Joyce when you read Nancy Drew and The Chocolate Covered Contest.
I would recomend this book because it a good hard mystery and has a lot of curves and bumps, just like the roller coaster that Nancy gets stuck on!

Not as Pleasing as I hoped
While I was reading this book I was thinking about other things..I dont like it when books bore me and thats why I gave it few stars. I found myself trailing off and finding it hard to get to the next page..... Although the Hardy Boys and Nancy make quite a team..i still expected better..

Wonderful and Action-packed!
"Royal Revenge" was my first book out of this series, and it was terrific! When Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys team up, expect much action and brainstorming of all possibilities! Mixed in with some teasing and joking, of course. At the end, the identity of the Haiduk is surprising. This is a book that you just can't put down, even the second time around!

Riveting, Action-Packed, Full of Suspense!!!!
This Super Mystery is just full of suspense and action-packed scenes that keeps you hanging on to every word. Nancy Drew and her loyal companions,Bess and George, combined with the help from the Hardy's give this book lots of humorous moments as well as character. The KGB asassin, the Haiduk, is creepy in the ending when he is loaded with an AK-74 machine gun and ordered to shoot the supposed heir to the Panaslavan throne as well as Nancy and her friends. The final ending scene will keep you glued to the page and to find out the answer to the mystery. This book is well-written and deserves,in my opinion, five stars and two thumbs up!!!!!! *****
